Welcome to The Pau Hana Time Lounge
I have been meaning to do this for about 20 years - to build a site of my favorite places (and of course most of them are bars). The project has been delayed mostly because I am lazy and would rather be out drinking in some dive.
The posts are by city, and they are all ongoing works in progress. The list is in no particular order. I update it and expand on it whenever I have time. For a place to make it on the list it has to have character and I have to have been there - and liked it. Those are the only criteria. Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions. I'll probably ignore them, but your welcome to leave them just the same.
Welcome to The Pau Hana Time Lounge - okole maluna !

"Pau Hana" but never have any local kine joints. Maybe 'cause you nevah come home, das why! Anyhow, next time (if have) you back in Honolulu try these: Sam Choy's Big Aloha Brewery on Nimitz (you'll enjoy talking story with brewer, Dave Campbell); Hank's Cafe (downstairs & upstairs) on Nu'uanu in Chinatown; Murphy's a block down at corner of Merchant; Kona Brewing Pub in Hawai'i Kai at pau hana time, 'specially on Friday for good fun kine Hawaiian music and impromptu hula; Lulu's in Waikiki at corner Kalakaua/Kapahulu, 2nd floor open air view across da beach, plus good Hawaiian music pau hana time. All these places at least get some kine craft brew. Give shout if ever in town. Aloha, a hui hou & okole maluna!
Auwe, long time I neva been home bradda. Ho, so long ago, mos da places is gone already. So please -leave more suggestions.
Hana Ho bradda, hana ho
What about the Bucket of Blood NE; The Lounge? And what of Bobby Beacons'? Though I will grant the omission of the last to keep the riff raff out. "Semi-Friendly" and the Toronado tenders in the same sentence? I don't seem to remember Ms. Manners saying "Fuck you-- NEXT!" was a proper reply to the clueless newbie at the B-fest.
